Mission
The mission of the Alliance is to bring the need and the people who want change together  –  and ultimately to build an anti-racist majority.

About Us

In recent years, racism has increased in the Louisville community, as it has all over the country.  White supremacy is embedded in the institutions of our society and explodes constantly in our daily lives.  This continues to make our city a deeply divided community.

At the same time, there are ever-increasing numbers of people – both people of color and whites – who want to change this situation.

Our Mission

The mission of the Alliance is to bring the need and the people who want change together  –  and ultimately to build an anti-racist majority.

Racism destroys everyone.  It stunts the lives of people of color, especially the young.  And it destroys whites, too, because it makes it impossible for us to build unity to solve pressing social problems that face us all.

We address specific instances of racism in the community:

  • Racism in Police Practices  see Citizens Against Police Abuse

  • Racism in Employment and Economic Opportunity

  • Racism in our School System, see Parents Involved in Education (PIE)

  • Racism in our Courts

  • Racism in Prisons

  • Racism in the Environment

  • And Fairness For All

Our approach is ACTION!!

We mobilize people of color and whites to take visible action together against specific instances of racism in our community.  Our methods include direct action (demonstrations, picket lines, etc.), public forums, delegations to decision-makers, appearances at public meetings and hearings, letter-writing, phone calls, etc.  We act in close cooperation with other concerned community groups.  No one such battle will solve the whole problem – but in each, we take a step along the way and begin to change the atmosphere.

We have been working to end racism in Louisville since the 1950s,

and are a part of the National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression, which has been fighting this battle across the country since the early 1970s.
