Louisville Peace Community:

More Things to do RIGHT NOW!

CONTINUOUS LOCAL CAMPAIGNS

BANNERING: You may have seen people in twos and threes at various locations with NO WAR or other signs of peace.  People have formed groups of two or three and just go stand someplace where there is traffic.  This could be a busy intersection, the entrance area of the Fairgrounds for a ballgame or event, or near a mall.  This is a very effective and important thing to do.  It gives spreads the word geographically and shows all the people that go by that this is a serious statement by the sign holders.  Most passersby will signal approval or disapproval in some way, but nearly everyone admires the strength of conviction.

Here’s what we recommend:

  1. Make a big sign that can be seen clearly  You can use a bed sheet and spray paint.  Make the sign at least 3 x 5 feet.  Don’t use many words so drivers can read it quickly:  No War, No Oil War, Peace Now!  Etc. If you can, please add our website so they can get more info easily:  louisvillepeace.org   You can use plastic pipe on the edges as sign posts if you want.
  2. Suggested times:  Morning rush hour (7:30-9:00); Evening rush hour (4:30-6:00) and of course special events
  3. Suggested places:  Fairgrounds, exits and entrance ramps to interstates, busy intersections in your part of town, near malls and shopping centers & also at public service sites like hospitals, water treatment plants (humanitarian sites) with signs that say something along the order of "Bombing this site in Iraq would be a human rights violation."
