LOUISVILLE PEACE ACTION COMMUNITY’S

PEACE PLEDGE

FOR DEMONSTRATION PARTICIPANTS

I pledge to be a peaceful participant in actions and events sponsored by the Louisville Peace Action Community, including the following commitments.

If I witness other peace participants acting in a way that is contrary to this pledge, I will engage them in dialogue to help clarify for them our purpose in this event.

Regardless of the provocation, I will not respond in kind to aggression or violence directed toward me or our gathering.  I will instead maintain an attitude of peaceful encounter and if needed, notify the nearest peacekeeper or police officer.

  • I will ignore name-calling or hostile remarks toward me or our group.
  • I will carry no weapons.
  • I will respect all property.
  • I will have no alcohol or illegal drugs in my possession.
  • I will allow workers' personal access to their jobs.
  • I will have a sympathetic understanding of the burdens and responsibilities carried by our police officers.
